Our Education Team is vital to ensuring that young people with disabilities get the support they need that will ultimately enable them to go on and live their lives as independently as possible and as a Pastoral Support Worker you would be a key part of that.

What is a Pastoral Support Worker?

As a Pastoral Support Worker you would be responsible for supporting students who exhibit behavioural, emotional or social problem in school within the North West Devon  area.

You would:

  • Identify personal issues that may be affecting the students
  • Assist classroom based teachers
  • Ensure school safeguarding policies are adhered to
  • Work with our students in small groups or on a 1-2-1 basis
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams as required
  • Make sure students know you are there to help them when needed

What are we looking for?

To be considered for the post of Pastoral Support Worker you should have worked with children or young people in a pastoral capacity and have the ability to build positive relationships with disaffected students. As you will often be required to work as part of multidisciplinary team you should have good written and verbal communication and be able to present information in a concise manner. If you can combine all these things with a sound knowledge of child protection and safeguarding legislation you could make a great Pastoral Support Worker.

Please note that as the students you would be responsible for supporting live across The North West Devon area, you should hold a full drivers licence and have access to your own vehicle as you will be required to travel.
