What types of jobs are available?

Our mission is to provide great support to people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs. We employ around 3,500 people across the country to make that happen.

We regularly post a huge variety of jobs with us. Within adult social care we have roles from support workers to regional managers. Our education and supported employment services are often on the lookout for learning mentors, job coaches and managerial positions. Within central services, we have positions ranging from HR and recruitment to IT, finance, communication and project management.

Across these roles we have permanent or fixed-term contracts, and part-time, full-time or relief roles.

Visit our career pathways page to learn more about the choices available to you.

Do I need experience to become a support worker?

Each service has individual needs when recruiting new staff, depending on the people supported by that service. Some are able to offer you a position if you have no experience and fully train you to where you need to be. Other services support people with more complex needs and, therefore, experience is needed to join the team.

All roles have paid mandatory training as part of your induction, and ongoing training will offer you new career opportunities and qualifications as you progress.

Do you offer sponsorship to people living outside the UK?

Unfortunately, we don’t currently offer sponsorship opportunities.

Do I need a driver’s licence?

This varies between services and will be stated in the job description if it’s a requirement.

For many job roles you won’t need to drive at all to fulfil the job obligations.  Others will need support workers to have a driving licence but not a car, because the person being supported has their own vehicle that can be used on shift. In other roles, travel between sites or to visit people is a big part of the job, and so owning a car is essential.

Can I do flexible hours?

Most of our shifts are on a rota basis. However we will work with you to meet your requirements and needs as much as we can.

What benefits do you offer the people who work for you?

To name just a few, all our permanent staff benefit from:

  • A £250 friend referral scheme or a £250 welcome bonus
  • 20 days paid annual leave (plus 8 bank holidays, pro rata for part-time), which increases after 3 and 5 years’ service
  • Access to free occupational health, physiotherapy, counselling and advice services
  • Fully paid training and access to nationally recognised qualifications
  • Travel to work scheme (season ticket loan)
  • Access to an online shopping platform with discounts from over 3,500 retailers
  • Access to Blue Light discounts and other shopping discount schemes
