About the job
United Response is creating a new group of Experts by Experience. What does Expert by Experience mean?
An Expert by Experience is someone who uses their own life experiences to help other people learn and improve services.
We want to make sure that people with learning disabilities have a voice.
As a UR Consultant, you will use your own experiences to help us improve the work we do.
You may work with United Response or with other organisations.
You will work as part of a team.
What will you do?
Training
You will:
- Help people understand learning disabilities.
- Help create and deliver training.
- Talk about your own experiences.
- Take part in training online using Teams or Zoom.
- Help check Easy Read information.
- Give your opinion about Easy Read documents.
- Help make sure information is easy for people with learning disabilities to understand.
Campaigning
You will:
- Work with the United Response Campaigns team.
- Share your experiences and opinions.
- Help us campaign for equality and better social care.
- Talk about things that are important to people with learning disabilities.
Sharing your views
You will:
- Share your experiences and ideas.
- Give your opinion on different topics.
- Help other people and organisations understand the experiences of people with learning disabilities.
- Help improve the services we provide.
What do you need to do?
You will need to:
- Be on time.
- Complete your work when agreed with your manager.
- Take part in training when needed.
- Follow health and safety rules.
- Keep information confidential.
