Who We Are
United Response is a registered charity, founded in 1973. Our mission is to ensure that individuals with learning disabilities, mental or physical support needs have the opportunity to live life to the fullest. We support around 2,000 people across more than 300 locations in England and Wales, with over 3,600 staff members.
Our Employment services (ESEE) support people to develop skills, gain experience and move into sustainable employment, apprenticeships or further training through a range of tailored programmes.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking proactive and person-centred Job Coaches to support people we support to achieve their employment goals. You will help individuals identify their strengths, build confidence and develop the skills needed to succeed in the workplace.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with young people or adults with SEN, learning disabilities, mental health needs or physical disabilities
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with individuals, employers and professionals
- Experience delivering 1 to 1 and group-based support
- Confidence managing a varied caseload and working independently
- GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Good IT skills
Experience in job coaching, supported employment or knowledge of employment pathways such as internships, apprenticeships or traineeships would be advantageous, as would Job Coach training.
A flexible approach is essential, as this is a field-based role working across a range of locations and programmes.
What to Expect
As a Job Coach, you will:
- Support individuals to identify their strengths, skills and career goals
- Deliver person-centred 1 to 1 and group-based employability support
- Help develop workplace skills such as communication, time management and professionalism
- Support access to vocational training, Functional Skills and work experience opportunities
- Provide travel training and in-work support where required
- Build relationships with local employers to create inclusive job opportunities
- Support individuals in securing and sustaining employment
- Work across programmes including Supported Employment, Supported Internships, Access to Work and Education pathways
- Maintain accurate records and monitor progress against outcomes
- Work collaboratively with families, professionals and partner organisations
