Who we are
United Response is a leading national charity providing support to young people and adults with special educational needs (SEN), learning disabilities and mental health needs. We believe in championing the right of disabled people to live, work, socialise and participate in the community, free from discrimination and unnecessary boundaries.
Who we need
Our Cornwall Supported Employment service requires an enthusiastic and committed individual to support the education of learners on our Pathway to Employment/Supported Internship programme. This programme is for young people aged 16–24 living in Cornwall who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
Delivery of the programme can be across Cornwall through a mix of education and work-related activity, both on a one-to-one basis and in group settings.
This post will primarily be based at our Threemilestone location and also in the community supporting learners on work placements. Mileage is paid at 45p per mile between base and supported work placements.
A full driving licence, access to your own car and a willingness to travel across Cornwall are essential.
Making it Happen – Your role
The rewarding role of the Job Coach is to support young people in realising their aspirations to participate in work-related activities and facilitate their progression into paid work through volunteering, education and training, work experience and other routes.
The Job Coach will work flexibly across all key stages and work with individuals on a one-to-one basis or in very small groups under the direction of the Employability Tutor.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with confidence and initiative who is comfortable working on a one-to-one basis and sometimes without direct supervision.
Working with young people and helping them develop will be key, so you will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
You will follow a bespoke timetable and build positive relationships with learners to promote interaction and a constructive learning environment.
The successful applicant will join a dynamic, enthusiastic team, totally committed to supporting some of the most vulnerable young people in Cornwall.
The benefits
In return for your passion and commitment, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including:
-
20 days paid annual leave plus 8 bank holidays (pro rata for part time), which increases after 3 and 5 years’ service (to be taken outside of term time).
-
